NATIVE AMERICAN INFLUENCES

The culture of the Native American Indian has influenced art in many ways - particularly the tribes of the Southwest. The form and design of the pottery, the intricate basketry with its unique symbolism,
and the colorful beadwork are all just a small part of the rich heritage of our Native people.

The art world is indebted, both for their artistic contribution and
for the continued efforts to retain their heritage and culture.

The works of the Navajo, Apache, Pima, Hopi, and others, both past and present,
provide inspiration. However, I have not attempted to replicate any particular design, or to convey
any unique tribal symbolism. Turning the wood and using pyrography and dye,
provides the appearance of "basketry" and "beadwork."

I hope you find the inclusion of some of these elements interesting.

All arrowheads are modern flint reproductions by other artists.
Antlers and feathers are from legally harvested game.
